Hi there! I’m so glad you’re here. This is going to be a quick hello from me to introduce myself and to give a quick breakdown about why I am so passionate about creating this space for students and upcoming clinicians.

Who are you?

I am currently a LPC-MHSP(t) who is, at the time of writing this, working my way to become a fully licensed professional counselor with a mental health specialization in Tennessee. I am very passionate about helping younger therapists in the counseling field who feel lost and overwhelmed.

As for who I am as a therapist, I’m a trauma therapist who works with those who have chronic pain or illnesses as well neurodivergent folks. P.S. I won’t go into all of the details of the therapy things I do. If you’re interested, you can visit here to read up on what types of therapies I engage with, my trainings and background, and other details about me.

Why did you create this podcast?

There are probably way too many reasons I wanted to create this podcast, however, to try to keep it simple

Becoming a therapist is hard enough, you don’t have to do it alone.

I will repeat this quote again and again. My experience in graduate school created my curiosity about upcoming clinicians. For me, I remember feeling completely lost in all things being a therapist, and my path to becoming a counselor was emotionally and psychologically hard.

I know deeply what it feels like to be stuck in imposter syndrome, to feel anxious about this process of therapy in general, to question myself and ask “am I really meant to be in this field?”, and to feel like there are so many challenges to overcome and face in becoming the therapist I wanted to be and want to continue to evolve into.

Who is this podcast for?

This podcast is for those who are a counseling graduate student, therapist-in-training, counselor-in-training, or a provisionally or temporary licensed clinician working towards full licensure. All are welcome here including those who are affiliated with social work, marriage and family therapy, clinical counseling, and clinical psychology fields.

What do you hope this podcast will do?

My hope is that this podcast will deliver to you, at the very least, compassion and words of understanding, from stories of what my experiences have been like as a graduate student and early career therapist, so far, to the stories of other therapists and their experiences.

Ultimately, I want this to be a space of authenticity and connection for you so that you know you are not alone in what you might be thinking or feeling as you figure out your therapist identity. Because, what I have found is that many therapists out there have felt the same and have a common ground for what struggles come up throughout this developmental phase. We are not alone in the exciting and challenges parts of becoming a therapist, and this podcast is to support you through that.
